Acid Staining and Dyes
Acid stains and dyes can be applied to existing concrete to create an elegant, variegated, mottled, and translucent color. Never expect an acid stain to have a uniform or even tone, dyes may be more suited for this. This unique and elegant look is presently being sought after by architects and modern designers everywhere. The marble-like look is produced after the acids react with the minerals in the concrete. Unlike paint, acid stains and dyes will not peel off or flake over time.
For concrete surfaces that are cracked or damaged, overlays can be applied to have a nice even surface before stains are sprayed. Overlays are usually 1/16 of an inch in thickness and will enhance a stains color once laid down.
In addition to the beauty, ease of maintenance and the benefit of a dust free surface, stained concrete is also flood resistant. Stained surfaces can also be scored to give a look of tile. Now it’s possible to get a look of 24”, 36” or even 48” tile at a fraction of the price. Diagonal tile patterns, borders and various patterns can also be scored giving your floor a majestic look and feel. Scored lines will be easy to keep clean and will not stain unlike tile grout.
